Candlemas Artisans’ Auction: final update

This year’s Candlemas (link to event information) will include an Artisans’ Auction! Further information about the auction is available at this link.

Master Arontius of Bygelswade heraldic device for Arontius of Bygelswade, deputy to the Dragon’s Laire Arts & Sciences Minister, has an update regarding the Artisans’ Auction to be held at this year’s Candlemas, in just a few days!

Today is the final day for the accepting of new donations listings. I want to close the donations period so that we can work to identify everything as completely and clearly as possible prior to Candlemas on February 4th.

Just as last week, I wanted to take a brief moment to mention our charitable cause. We wanted to donate to an organization working to combat the issues surrounding Rheumatoid Arthritis (an autoimmune disease causing inflammation in joints and resulting in painful deformity and immobility). Our Dragon’s Laire Seneschale, Marquessa Laurellen, her mother suffered from this and we wanted to honor her memory as this, our first time effort for an auction of this type mirroring what is done at the Kingdom level at the Twelfth Night Peers’ Auction.

To learn more, please visit this web-site, https://www.helpfightra.org. This is a 501(c)3 organization with whom we can transfer funds collected from this auction and deposited into the Dragon’s Laire accounts.

As mentioned, HL Halldora Bjorn heraldic device for Halldora Bjorn will be the Auctioneer (Thank You, Halldora!). We are tentatively scheduling the auction to take place during the Feast itself. The easiest way to pay for items won is by cash or check (made out to ‘SCA, Inc.; Barony of Dragon’s Laire’). But we are also working on a way to pay by debit or credit card as well.

I wanted to thank those artisans who have already committed to providing items for the Candlemas Auction. Pictures are being Posted [on this Facebook post, and soon on the auction page] of all of our wonderful contributions! I’ll be reaching out to all those donating to see about gathering additional photographs.

One new addition since our last update:

  • HE Eilidh Keldeleth heraldic device for Eilidh Keldeleth is donating a pair of nalbound mittens.
  • M’Lord Tedious the Woodbutcher from Fire Mountain Keep is donating handmade weaving shuttles. They are made of oak, poplar, and birch; and would be great for narrow weave work.

[Find more on the auction page at this link!]

Many, many thanks to all the artisans.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Arontius of Bygelswade heraldic device for Arontius of Bygelswade.
