The incipient Canton of Misty Ridge, a new branch of the SCA sponsored by the Barony of Dragon’s Laire, covers Clallam and Jefferson counties in the state of Washington.
The incipient Canton of Misty Ridge is a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). It is part of the Kingdom of An Tir, which covers the Northwestern U.S. and parts of Western Canada. The SCA is a not-for-profit educational organization that studies the history and culture of the Middle Ages by recreating it. The SCA has branches all over the USA and Canada, as well as many parts of Europe, Australia, and Asia. To locate a branch near you, check the SCA Web site.

Activities
During the incipient phase, the new canton will hold the following official activities under the sponsorship of the Barony of Dragon’s Laire.
Business Meetings
Business meetings are open to the entire populace. They are held the last Wednesday of the month, starting at 7:30pm. All meetings are held online, via Zoom. To reduce “Zoom bombing”, the link will be posted shortly before the meeting, on the Canton Facebook group.
Some meetings may also include an in-person option, such as a potluck or BBQ, to be announced on the Canton’s Facebook Page and Group.
Any time/date changes will be announced on this website.
Archery Practice
Official archery practices will begin on September 22, 2024! Practices will be held on Sundays, from 1-3PM. This activity is held at a private home, so please email mistyridge.marshal@antir.org to ask for the address.
Any last-minute weather cancellations will be announced on the Canton’s Facebook group.
Beltane
The Canton’s first Beltane event was held the last weekend of April, 2024. Planning for 2025 is in the early stages — the business meeting is a great time to learn more and to volunteer to help out! You can view the 2024 Beltane event info for inspiration.

Proposed Heraldry
Heraldry serves many purposes in the SCA. The visual display of heraldry– on banners, clothing and other objects– creates pageantry. And heralds can help you with appropriate SCA names and personal devices. Learn more about heraldry and find some name resources here.
The incipient Canton has submitted these as their proposed device and populace badge. The device indicates the presence of the Canton itself — and the populace badge can be used by ANYONE who lives in the canton and wants to show their support.
