Candlemas Artisans’ Auction: donations needed!

As a charitable fundraiser, we will host a live Artisans’ Auction at Candlemas 2023 (link to event information). Artisans and Craftspeople, we invite you to donate a handmade item to the auction.

Update, January 9th: We have an Auction Master!

For more details, please read this letter from Master Arontius of Bygelswade heraldic device for Arontius of Bygelswade, deputy to the Dragon’s Laire Arts & Sciences Minister:

Greetings All!

Several years ago, the ‘Stamped Handkerchief’ creation and sales in support of Breast Cancer Research, led by Her Excellency Eilidh Keldeleth heraldic device for Eilidh Keldeleth, was well-received and well-supported. In that spirit, we would like to start a tradition of charitable giving — with a fundraiser at the upcoming Candlemas celebration. We hope this auction will become an annual tradition.

This fundraiser will be an auction of items that have been handmade by artisans and craftspeople of the SCA. All artisans are welcome. We would sincerely appreciate anything made from your own hands! We are looking for any item that an attendee of the auction would want to buy.

This is not a competition. Every artisan and craftsperson who donates to the auction will receive a token of our esteem and thankfulness for your support of a worthy cause. These tokens are being donated by His Excellency Arion the Wanderer heraldic device for Arion the Wanderer and Dame Gwen the Potter heraldic device for Gwen the Potter.

For this year’s auction, our charitable group is the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, Inc. We chose this group in memory of our Seneschal, Marquessa Laurellen de Brandevin heraldic device for Laurellen de Brandevin‘s, mother, who was afflicted with this painful disease.

We will have one hour scheduled, during Candlemas on February 4, 2023, to host this live auction.

We are in search of an Auction Master at this very moment. If you would like to fill this role, please contact me. Your efforts would be greatly appreciated! (Update, Jan 9th: I want to announce our official AUCTIONEER for this event! HL Halldora Bjorn heraldic device for Halldora Bjorn. Thank you so very, very much Halldora!)

Please let me know in advance if you are donating to the auction, and what it is you are contributing. This will help us better plan for the auction (timing, space requirements, etc.).

If you have any questions, or want to contribute in any way, please contact me at arontius@comcast.net.

Many Thanks! Arontius of Bygelswade
