Highlighted Activities for August 2025

All of our martial practices are now on their summer schedule. Youth armored combat is revving up this year. Keep reading for all the details.

The Scribal Guild meets in a private home once or twice a month (sometimes with a hybrid/online option), and the Culinary guild typically alternates between the 4th Thursday and Saturday. The Barony does not publish the location of private homes; to get the address, please contact the Guild heads via email.

Aug 4Incipient Canton of Misty Ridge Business Meeting at 7:30pm, online — see Facebook for last-minute details.
Aug 5Baronial Business & Financial Meeting at VFW Post 4992 – doors open at 6pm, meeting starts at 6:30pm. These meetings are open to anyone. Also live-streamed (check the Facebook group or Discord for last-minute details).
Aug 7–10REGIONAL EVENT. The William Tell Archery Tourney will be hosted by the Shire of River’s Bend in Skamokawa, WA. All things archery, plus contests, classes, and camping. More on the An Tir calendar and Facebook.
Aug 9NEARBY EVENT. Peasant’s Revel will be hosted by the Barony of Madrone in Bellevue, WA. Casual garb, games, and picnicking in the park! More on the An Tir calendar and Facebook.
Aug 12Tuesday Social and Fight Practice at the VFW starting at 6pm (including YAC).
ALSO: Class.“Beginner Garb for the Newcomer” by HL Jess Gateman, starting at 6:30pm. Class will cover easy options, such as chitons/tube dresses, T-tunics, and rectangular construction, for those with little to no sewing background. Students should bring note taking materials.

Aug 16NEARBY EVENT. It’s Still Just a Garden Party will be hosted by the Barony of Glymm Mere in Olympia, WA. The event features their annual archery & thrown weapons Championships, outdoor games, and a potluck lunch. More info on the Kingdom Calendar and Facebook.
Aug 19Tuesday Social and Fight Practice at the VFW starting at 6pm.
ALSO: Games night featuring the lawn game Kubb, hosted by our Gamesminister. And 3rd Tuesday scribal practice with the Baronial Scribe.
Aug 26Tuesday Social and Fight Practice at the VFW starting at 6pm (including YAC).
ALSO: 4th Tuesday Bardic night. This is a drop-in activity, and all skill levels are welcome. Bring what you’re working on, test out your piece in front of a small audience, and/or practice with the group.
Aug 28An Tir Kingdom Newcomer class online– starting at 6:30pm. More info on Facebook. This will be the second class of the series (you can take them in any order).

The Baronial Chatelaine, Aoife Aileanach heraldic device for Aoife Aileanach is looking for people from Dragon’s Laire to give short lectures and vignettes on various subjects of the SCA. “I’m basically looking for an extension of what we have on display at June Faire (costume making, cooking info, weaving, spinning, metal work, archery equipment, etc).” These could be 15-min talks, just enough to give new members an introduction.
