{"id":307,"date":"2020-04-28T17:24:02","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T00:24:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/?page_id=307"},"modified":"2020-09-22T00:30:05","modified_gmt":"2020-09-22T07:30:05","slug":"using-microsoft-teams","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/resources\/using-microsoft-teams\/","title":{"rendered":"Using Microsoft Teams"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Etiquette<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To help everyone have a good experience in a virtual meeting, here are a few tips and points of etiquette to keep in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Make sure anyone else in your area knows<\/strong> that you&#8217;ll be joining a meeting &#8211; respect their privacy!<ul><li>Not everyone wants to be heard or seen by strangers!<\/li><li>Not every stranger wants to accidentally see your scantily clad roommate \/ housemate!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If you have a microphone:<ul><li>Please check your microphone in the preview window before joining your meeting. <\/li><li>Please <strong>keep your microphone muted<\/strong> unless you&#8217;re actively using it to talk, share music, etc.<ul><li><strong>Microphones tend to amplify background noises<\/strong> so that they sound louder to everyone else than they do to you.<\/li><li>More open microphones increases the possibility of <strong>echo <\/strong>and <strong>feedback<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\">If the meeting facilitator notices that your microphone is open and you&#8217;re not currently using it, <strong>they might mute you. Please don&#8217;t take offense!<\/strong> They&#8217;re just trying to help the meeting go smoothly!<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\">If you have a camera:<\/span><ul><li>Please <strong>check your camera view<\/strong> in the preview window before joining your meeting. Make sure you&#8217;re happy with what others will see; maybe put away the evidence of any recent crimes!<\/li><li>If you&#8217;re comfortable with it, <strong>please turn on your camera when you&#8217;re talking<\/strong>. It&#8217;s nice socially but it also helps people understand what you&#8217;re saying and how you&#8217;re saying it if they can see your face. <em>This goes double for humor and sarcasm!<\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Please have patience!<\/strong> This is new for a lot of people, and technological gremlins can strike even the most confident techno-wizards.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quick Start<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click the link for your meeting. Depending on your setup, you should end up on one of these two web pages:<br><br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"430\" class=\"wp-image-314\" style=\"width: 800px;\" src=\"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-6.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Teams join page\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-6.png 731w, https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-6-300x161.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><br>or<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"344\" class=\"wp-image-311\" style=\"width: 800px;\" src=\"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-3.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Teams &quot;Join conversation&quot; page\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-3.png 987w, https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-3-300x129.png 300w, https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-3-768x330.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><br><\/li><li>Choose how you&#8217;d like to join:<ul><li>Using the app is most reliable and flexible, but it requires downloading and installing the app.<ul><li>If you already have the app installed, pick &#8220;Launch it now&#8221; link or &#8220;Open your Teams app&#8221; button.<\/li><li>If you don&#8217;t have the app but you&#8217;d like to install it, pick the &#8220;Download&#8221; button.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Using a browser is quick and easy, but some people have trouble using their camera or microphone with this option. If you want to go with this option, pick the &#8220;Join on the web instead&#8221; or &#8220;Continue on this browser&#8221; button.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Regardless of which option you choose, you should end up on a screen similar to this:<br><br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"474\" class=\"wp-image-316\" style=\"width: 600px;\" src=\"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-8.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Teams media check screen\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-8.png 621w, https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-8-300x237.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><br><\/li><li><strong>Double-check your settings<\/strong> on this screen before joining, then use the &#8220;Join now&#8221; button to actually join the meeting.<\/li><li>If you see a box that says &#8220;Enter name&#8221; please do so! Use a name that the other people in the meeting will recognize.<\/li><li>Once you&#8217;ve joined the meeting, use these buttons to control your interaction and experience:<br><br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"99\" class=\"wp-image-313\" style=\"width: 400px;\" src=\"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-5.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Teams meeting button bar\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-5.png 450w, https:\/\/dragonslaire.antir.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-5-300x74.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><br><ol><li>The amount of <strong>time<\/strong> you&#8217;ve spent in the meeting so far.<\/li><li>Turn your <strong>camera<\/strong> on and off<\/li><li>Turn your <strong>microphone<\/strong> on and off<\/li><li><strong>Share<\/strong> your screen (might be missing, depending on meeting settings)<\/li><li><strong>More Actions<\/strong> including the ability to change which camera, microphone, or speakers you&#8217;re using.<\/li><li><strong>Show\/Hide conversation<\/strong>: every meeting is associated with a text chat. <strong>If you don&#8217;t have a microphone but still want to communicate<\/strong>, or if you&#8217;d like to say something without interrupting another speaker, feel free to type it here!<\/li><li><strong>Show\/Hide participants<\/strong>: see who is in the meeting here. Some meetings allow you to &#8220;raise your hand&#8221; as a way to ask the facilitator to let you talk; in that case, <strong>the &#8220;Raise Hand&#8221; button is in here<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Hang up<\/strong> and leave the meeting.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating a Meeting or Event<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Officers and anyone else with an Office 365 account may create Teams meetings. If you don&#8217;t have an Office 365 account but would like to schedule a meeting or event, please contact the Webminister, Seneschal, or other officer to help you do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an account but you&#8217;re not sure how to create an event or meeting, please contact the Webminister or Seneschal.
